Albany was house to this country’s final working Whaling Station, and it’s not hard to see why. The space is fantastic for whale watching, enjoying host to Humpback and Southern Right whale migrations from May to October every year, with fantastic viewing spots all along the coast line of the area. King George Sound is a busy space for calving Southern Right Whales and resting Humpbacks, whereas there are also loads of tour operators who’ll take you out on a boat to get nearer to the motion.
Turn left into Runnymede Street and take the second driveway on the left. From Albany Visitor Centre, head up York road, turn proper at Serpentine Rd roundabout, left at the roundabout onto Aberdeen St, proceed along and go straight by way of the roundabout onto Middleton Rd. Continue alongside, turning right on the roundabout onto Adelaide Crescent. Pass Eyre Park and entry to the villa is on the left just before ‘Hooked’ fish and chips. From ‘Visitors Centre’ situated in York Street, follow Marine Drive around to Middleton seashore entrance round-about, right into Flinders Parade, then left into Barnett Street for entrance and underground parking. Follow Albany Highway via two roundabouts, to the middle of city.
Turn right at the second final roundabout, at Peels Place (where the struggle memorial is) and Cuthbert Street is the second road on you right. From York St take Middleton Beach Rd for approx 2kms. No 31 is on the left hand side simply as you begin to ascend the hill. 3 Kms east of town centre down Middleton Beach Road on the nook of Adelaide Crescent and Golf Links Road. Entering roundabout from Albany Highway, South Coast Highway or Chesterpass Rd take the turnoff onto Hanrahan Rd.
